Trustee - Richard Hughes

After working for Microsoft and its partner ecosystem for 20 years, Richard has worked in strategic leadership for large international companies and set up a start-up business in lockdown which now employs more than fifty people. This involved developing partnerships across Europe and working with global partners to create high-impact solutions and worldwide programmes. He is also the Sustainability Chair for the International Association of Microsoft Partners.
The fast track scheme at Microsoft encouraged employees to do things outside work, so Richard has a long history of volunteering, including supporting charities in Africa to raise money for mosquito nets and medical aid, and supporting the Jacaranda Foundation in Malawi which feeds and teaches children whose parents have died of HIV. Part of his current company supports charities such as "The Access Project" that helps disadvantaged children to get into top universities. Richard was from a town with the highest unemployment rate in Wales and he sees education as vital for social mobility.
Richard became a Trustee in July 2025 and is a Member of the Learning & Development Committee.
