Headteacher (Hamsey Green) - Nikki Mace

Having started her teaching career at Hamsey Green Infant School in 1998, Nikki Mace is still there 25 years later – now as the Headteacher.  She is proud to lead such a lovely school!  Whilst in the Infant School, she gained a wealth of experience teaching Years 1 and 2 and had the opportunity to travel to Chicago with the British Council to research IT use in the classroom.  During these early years, she took time out to have her two children.

In 2010, the Infant and Junior Schools successfully amalgamated to become Hamsey Green Primary School.  This allowed Nikki to expand her knowledge and experience of teaching Key Stage 2 pupils.  She has led Computing, Music, Geography and English during her time at the school.

In 2017, the school became part of Tandridge Learning Trust, and Nikki was appointed as Deputy Head across the then split site (Juniors and Infants) with vertically grouped classes.  She found this role very rewarding, as she was able to support pupils across the whole school at the same time as developing the school’s ethos and values. She further developed her skillset as the Assessment Lead, Designated Lead for Looked After Children, Designated Safeguarding Lead and Pupil Premium Leader.

Nikki became Acting Head in April 2019 and oversaw the combination of the two sites to form a single site Primary School with pure age-grouped classes.  This enabled the staff to further foster the caring, nurturing ethos of the school, ensuring every child is supported to be the best version of themselves and is kind to others.

In February 2020, under Nikki’s leadership, Ofsted upgraded its judgement of the school from ‘Requires Improvement’ to ‘Good’ - not many Heads can say that this happened on the same day as they were formally interviewed and appointed as Headteacher!

Nikki has a BEd (Honours) from Westminster College, Oxford and also holds the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH).

With two teenage children, Nikki spends her spare time watching them compete in sports events and socialising with friends and family.  She is currently puppy-training the school dog!
